arcam solo systems
One of the best known and highly regarded British brands, today‘s Arcam is considerably more sophisticated, yet retains the easy listening character and simplicity of the original products. And rather than just components, Arcam now deals in complete systems.
In the past 30 years, Arcam has earned a reputation as one of the worlds finest manufacturers of hi-fi separates. As excellent music reproduction has always been the driving force behind all they do, Arcam wanted to distill their audiophile expertise into a product that would be available to people would really wanted a streamlined, easy to use and great sounding single unit.
And so the Solo was born.
The new Solo Neo combines an excellent CD player, am/fm radio tuner, a 50 watt per channel amplifier, and wireless network player all together in a single sleek package. The network player means you can get fantastic performance from music stored on local network devices. Truly up to date it also has a USB port and a RS232 connection for direct playback and control of iPods via the optional irDock. You would be hard pressed to find separates that even approach the Solos overall performance at this price level, let alone make them work together as well.
However, this is just the start of the Solo range’s abilities. Above the Solo Music system we have two choices of Solo Movie system with spectacular video performance and a choice of 2.1 or 5.1 speaker configurations. The Solo Mini is smaller and even more affordable again, but no less capable.
All the Solo models stack up against any collection of separates you may try and assemble for the same end cost. And you have the advantages of operation by a single remote control, not extra cabling required, compatibility assured and a minimum of shelf space. The Solo systems are cool running, easy to use and have proven reliability. In short, they are serious audio components in their own right. If you like what the Solo can do for you, it‘s an easy choice.

Solo Mini System NZ$ 1,895

Why get your Arcam Solo System from Totally Wired?
If you have learned anything at all about us, it will be that we are serious about sound quality and reliability. So when we recommend the Solo, it is because we genuinely like it and would be quite happy with any of the systems at home. We‘ve compared the Solo with many alternatives. Sometimes on of these may actually be better for you and in this case we will tell you so. However when it comes to making the most of the Solo and its abilities, we bring 20 years of experience to the table and you’ll be the one to enjoy the end results. And remember we make a worthwhile donation to the World Wide Fund for Nature with every system sold.
Matching Speakers.
The Solo systems will work with many loudspeakers. And the better the speakers you choose, the more you‘ll enjoy the sound from your Solo system. After much listening, our first choice to match any of the Solo models would be from and even more venerable company than Arcam – Quad. The new 11L2 offers sparkling performance that seamlessly matches the Solos abilities. And with a choice of perfectly executed lacquered finishes, you can have a system that looks just as good as it sounds.
The New Zealand made Image Studio Reference and floor standing 412 models are even better, delivering a more dynamic, detailed sound. The fact that there is a chance to own a hand built NZ made speaker in real wood finishes is just a bonus to the sparkling sound.
Above this, the Italian Sonus faber Concertino Domus speakers are the ultimate in sophistication.
For compact surround sound systems, especially with a subwoofer included, the Monitor Audio Radius series offer a finish quality comparable with the Quad 11L2s and sound that remains sweet and true while keeping to a competitive budget.
Solo makes the most of your iPod and many other players. Find out how here.
