The Quad 99 Series
99 series has been replaced by the new Quad Elite range
QUAD sound systems have always been able to give their owners the utmost pleasure and passion when they listen to music. The 99 series takes this concept even further. Powerful yet neutral amplifiers, partner a choice of sources to create a synergy which lifts each component. As a system, combined with our award-winning L-series loudspeakers, you can achieve a genuinely high-end sound for a remarkably modest outlay to transform your listening experience.
Each component is a class leader, the brand new CD-P and the world-famous 909 taking many International accolades, including several ‘Golden Ear’ awards. QUAD components are all hand-built quality units designed to reach the very pinnacle of hi-fi performance. Huge, torroidal transformers, keep an ample supply of power to each of the units – essential to ensure they operate without stress or limitation. An incredibly strong chassis provides the foundation for each of the units.
All 99 Series components ‘talk’ to each other via Quads unique ‘Quad-Link’ system. This carries not only balanced audio signals, but all the system commands and calibration information to ensure your units operate at maximum performance levels without complex manual reconfiguration. Quad amplifiers are amongst the best in the world, all designed with the ideal of ‘... a straight wire with gain’ in mind. This design philosophy is represented in our source components by choosing components and circuits which provide faithful and detailed reproduction without colouration.

Quad 99 Systems
You can have an exceptional Quad system for just NZ$ 4,250 – the new CDP2 Up-sampling CD player has a volume control which means you can connect it directly to the 99 Stereo power amplifier for a simple but startlingly good sound. Match with the Quad 11L speakers and you’ll hit any the budget target and blow away any other options.
If you need to connect more components and want the greater flexibility and better sound that the 99 Preamplifier provides you can add this in but here is the trick – select the new CDS player instead of the CDP as you can now take advantage of Quadlink for connection to the pre and power amps. So you get the better sound and flexibility of a 3 component system for an extra NZ$ 1200. The 11Ls sound even better in this combination and you are still at only NZ$ 5,250. Why not shout yourself some good speaker stands and cables with the savings?
Look to the 909 power amplifier if you already have good speakers or want to go further than the 11Ls. The 909 is directly based on the classic 606 Current Dumping design and is capable of driving virtually any speaker system. It is far more powerful than the 140 watt power rating suggests. You can still run the 909 directly from the CDP2 or choose to go with the preamplifier. Step up to the 22L floorstanding speakers and we can put together a system with these, the CDS, Preamp and 909 power amplifier for just NZ$ 8000. Stunning stuff!
Quad Rack
Here is the solution for a tidy and compact way to set up your Quad system. This sturdy and stylish design will set off your Quad system beautifully. The new Quad rack is NZ$ 799.

With the Quad L series speakers you can have a full Quad surround sound speaker system. All perfectly matched including centre and sub.
