Quad 'Elite’ Audio Electronics
QUAD sound systems have always been able to give their owners the utmost pleasure and passion when they listen to music. Quad is one of the oldest audio brands and have, for over 75 years continued to progress. The Elite series takes this even further with refinements on the previous 99 series and have added to Quad’s long list of audio awards. Powerful yet neutral amplifiers, partner a choice of sources to create a synergy which lifts each component. As a system, combined with the award-winning L-series loudspeakers, you can achieve a genuinely high-end sound for a remarkably modest outlay to transform your listening experience.
QUAD components are designed to reach the very pinnacle of hi-fi performance. Huge, torrodial transformers, keep an ample supply of power to each of the units – essential to ensure they operate without stress or limitation. An incredibly strong chassis provides the foundation for each of the units.
All Elite Series components ‘talk’ to each other via Quads unique ‘Quad-Link’ system. This carries not only balanced audio signals, but all the system commands and calibration information to ensure your units operate at maximum performance levels without complex manual reconfiguration. Quad amplifiers are amongst the best in the world, all designed with the ideal of ‘... a straight wire with gain’ in mind. This design philosophy is also represented in their source components by choosing components and circuits which provide faithful and detailed reproduction without colouration.

Quad Elite Systems
You can have an exceptional Quad system for just NZ$ 3,890 – the new CDP2 Up-sampling CD player has a volume control which means you can connect it directly to the Elite Stereo power amplifier for a simple but startlingly good sound. Match with the Quad 11L Classic speakers and you’ll hit any the budget target and blow away any other options.
If you need to connect more components and want the greater flexibility and better sound that the Elite Preamplifier provides you can add this in but here is the trick – select the new CDS player instead of the CDP as you can now take advantage of Quadlink for connection to the pre and power amps. So you get the better sound and flexibility of a 3 component system for an extra NZ$ 1,100. The 11Ls sound even better in this combination and you are still at only NZ$ 5,880. Why not shout yourself some good speaker stands and cables with the savings?
Look to the QSP power amplifier if you already have good speakers or want to go further than the 11Ls. The QSP is directly based on the classic 606 Current Dumping design and is capable of driving virtually any speaker system. It is far more powerful than the 140 watt power rating suggests. You can still run the QSP directly from the CDP2 or choose to go with the preamplifier. Step up to the 23L Classic floorstanding speakers and we can put together a system with these, the CDS, Preamp and QSP power amplifier for just NZ$ 8285. Stunning stuff! Other suitable speaker options are found in the Monitor Audio and Sonus faber ranges.
While we don’t have a Quad home cinema processor you can still enjoy movie sound tracks with Quad sound. In the first instance don’t be afraid of running a DVD player through your Quad stereo system – the CDP2 has digital inputs and the Up-sampling DAC within it does wonderful things to even the most ordinary DVD players performance.
