NuForce AV Preamp, Processor and Multi Channel power amplifiers.
NuForce are a seriously cool digital company so who better to shake up the home cinema market. If you already have a home theatre receiver amplifier of almost any description, it will be limited in both power and quality by the fact that is so much going on in the one box - pre amp, power amps, digital and analogue, sound and video. So much complication and compromise. Add to this the race to the bottom with all the chain store brands and it can make your head hurt.
The Nuforce approach is 3 fold - simplify by producng purpose built digital and analogue models, eliminate compromise by separating the preamp and power amplifier. And enhance with more and better quality power.
There are 3 models in this new range. The AVP18 is the all digital multi channel preamplifier. This can be teamed with either the MCA18 or MCA20 power amplifiers - both of which feature 8 channels. The difference between the two models is a the MCA 20 has exactly twice the power.
Nuforce presents a unique analogue approach aimed directly at owners of high performance BlueRay players such as Oppo and Cambridge. With all 3 models - the BDP105D, BDP 103D and Cambridge 752BD you are able to connect directly into either of the MCA 18 and MCA 20 power amplifiers. This gives you fantastic sound quality, simplicity and great value. The conventional AVR is rendered obsolete.
Just look at the back of any mass market AVR - the plethora of plugs is almost completely redundant and very few systems will use more than a fraction. A good number of HDMI sockets and a few highly specified optical and coax digital connections are more than sufficient.
The NuForce AVP18 digital preamplifier is exactly this. This also makes it wonderfully easy to use. Did we mention the DAC performance is directly comparable to their class leading stereo models such as the DAC-80?
The AVP18 is sleek but doesn't cut back on essential and useful features. While casual users will find initial setup a breeze, the AVP-18 still provides the demanding audiophile all of the controls necessary to customize performance to the highest levels of precision. To get started, connect your digital sources, plug in the calibration microphone (included), and activate the automatic multi-channel room correction software to adjust for the inevitable acoustic anomalies typical of most rooms. Once done and with all settings now stored in memory, you can start enjoying the latest HD audio and video media with the assurance that you are experiencing the kind of accurate, transparent and musical sound upon which NuForce’s reputation rests.

MCA 20 8 channel power amplifier. This is a truly remarkable beast. Obviously aimed at the serious end of the home cinema market with 8 channels of pure NuForce power - rated at 278 watts in each of the 8 channels ( a mind boggling 2224watt in total) - in a single compact and cool running case.Nuforce is not just about more power - it’s also much better sounding power. We've been thrilled with the sound of their music amplifiers and their multichannel power amplifiers take this even further. Find out more here.
If you are going to do something, in most cases it's best to do it right first time so we do recommend stretching for the full system if you can. But the beauty of separates is that you can stage the upgrade. And unlike 99% of home cinema systems, the NuForce is just as brilliant with music
If your receiver has pre-out sockets (most do) you can simply plug the MCA-20 or 18 to you existing system and transform it. Not only to you add power and quality but you also take all the load off your existing amplifier and allow it to perform in a far better fashion - further improving the sound quality. Given the both power amplifiers have 8 channels, you may even be able to look at bi-amping a number of speakers in your system depending on the configuration. Or powering other rooms. Once you have done this we think it will only be a matter of time before you talk to us about a NuForce AV preamplifier. But what better way to start?
MCA 18 8 channel power amplifier. You could think of the MCA18 as a slim and affordable version of the MCA 20. But that implies some sort of uncomfortable compromise - which is far from the case. Here's a better comparison - the MCA 18 is directly comparable to NuForce's star product - the DDA 100 integrated amplifier which has so impressed us all with it's fidelity, resolving power and quality. In fact the MCA 18 is effectively four DDA100 equivalents - for less than the price of two. Although this smaller power amplifier arrived after it's larger brother, we've actually more taken with this model in a 'how do they do this for so little?' kind of way. We've had multichannel power amplifiers before from Rotel, but the NuForce just kills them - it's far more musical and warm. A far cry from the supposed sound of 'digital' amps.
While it is true the MCA 20 does have more weight and heft to the sound, you should remember that is settings where it is possible to think laterally and use more than just a single pair of outputs to a pair of speakers. As we've pointed out above, when you have 8 channels to play with, you can bi-amplify - so if you have a 5 speaker system, with the MCA18 you can run three spare channels - effectively doubling the power - into the each of the front 3 speakers. So don't think for one minute that the MCA will limit you. Even in a straight forward stereo system, I can only think of one power amplifier I'd rather have at the price.
NuForce are our kind of company – their power efficiency, their use of minimal resources to deliver maximum fidelity dovetail perfectly with our commitment to organisations like WWF.
