About Slinkylinks
Silver, air and termination
In any system most of your investment is tied up in the three things that seemingly make it work – in the well proven hierarchy of source, control and playback (CD, amp and speakers in most systems). And what else does every system need I ask you? Cable. You have to connect the pieces, to transfer the music from A to B to C with the minimum possible loss or addition. In these enlightened times we all agree that cable does make a difference, but is there room for a cable that makes a more significant difference and does so at an easily affordable price?
Most cables are copper because it’s a good conductor and cost effective. But silver is better. It’s a lot more expensive too which is why the best cables from Kimber and the like are silver and can command prices reflective of their performance.
All cables carrying signal need insulation. But coating any cable in insulation materially affects the sound quality – inevitably in a bad way with loss and distortion. So what’s the alternative? Air actually. It’s one of the very best insulators.
Finally think about most cables’ shielding – they employ a copper braid and or foil to screen out interference. But this has capacitive properties and again results in loss and distortion.
Use silver, have air as an insulator and get rid of metal around the cable. But just one more thing and possibly the most important one in the real world. Put all of the above together, make it work in 99% of systems and most of all make it easily affordable.
Drum roll please. Enter Slinkylinks. Hand made in New Zealand, with the best materials, ingenuity and care. An interlink and speaker of exceptional sound quality with broad compatibility. We have spent the last few months listening to these in every possible system and directly comparing them to cables that cost 3 times as much and more. Bottom line – we’ve never heard anything that offers such an improvement for so little. As you’ll see below these cables are eminently affordable but we can assure you these are a quality product in all regards.
How the cables are terminated
The acclaimed Eichmann Bullet plugs, gold or silver options, are used on the interconnects. The speaker cables are factory terminated with a very special Swiss made medical quality banana pin. They are actually designed for lab testing. After extensive research Slinkylinks found them to be better quality and have better durability than conventional industry equipment. They were the best sounding termination for speaker leads. That is, until the new Eichmann silver bayonet plugs became available. At no extra charge outside of the cost of the plugs Slinkylinks will make to order speaker cables with these plugs.
